Developing and promoting critical care speciality

1. Established a critical care department of 50 beds in various disciplines at Jaslok Hospital. Incharge of the department at present.

2. Instituted a new department of critical care at Well Care Hospital, Dubai.

3. Planning, organizing and training of ICU at Breach Candy Hospital (first pulmonary critical care unit in the country started by Dr F E Udwadia)

On Editorial board of Chest – Indian Edition, official publication of the ACCP.

Invited by the Medical Education and Research Trust of Karnataka in March 1986 to organize the first conference and CME programme on critical care medicine at the Victoria Hospital, Bangalore, for post graduate students of Karnataka University. (Appendix F-2)

Elected President – World Conference on Cardiopulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Bombay, Dec 1995. Overall incharge of the conference – planning, organization and setting up of the scientific programme. The Conference was attended by over 700 delegates from India and abroad.

Invited as Member of the Governing Council of the IV International Multi-faculty Conference & the Mediatech Triple Expro 95 exhibition held in Bombay, Dec 95.

Elected on the Council of International Governors of ACCP for term 1996-2000 at the convocation ceremony in San Francisco on 28th Oct 1996 and re-elected in 2000-03.

Awarded Fellowship of the Indian College of Physician by the Association of Physicians of India, 1999.
