He worked initially in India at Nair Hospital from 1988 to 1991 during the pursuit of MS Orthopedics. He also trained in England from 1992 to 1996 in various capacities in Essex.
He has worked as Knee Fellow ( 1996 -1997 ) in Bristol , Avon Orthopedic Centre for 18 months with Mr. John Newman and Mr. Christopher Ackroyd. He has worked on the patella , partial knee Replacments , Patello-femoral Knee replacments etc. and published papers about these in reputed journals.
Dr. Nilen shah has done original research about how to manage pain after Knee Replacement Surgery ( Adductor canal block , femoral nerve block , single shot or continuous adductor canal block ) and has not only published papers in the Journal of Arthroplasty about this but also discussed in detail how to consistently get unbelievable results following this operation in the same journal.
He has been a regular Faculty for all the major conferences on Knee Replacements that are held in India and also for some internationally
He has also worked on reducing the blood loss after Knee Replacement Surgery and published papers on these and also devised a score to compare morbidity after Knee Replacement using different techniques .
